Nan Hoover

From 22 October 2015 to 17 January 2016, the Akademie-Galerie – Die Neue Sammlung in Dusseldorf (GER) presented a retrospective of the painter and video artist Nan Hoover (New York 1931 – Berlin 2008). From 1987 to 1996 Nan Hoover worked as a professor of video and film at the Dusseldorf Art Academy. A participant of the Documenta 6 in 1977, Nan Hoover is considered a major pioneer of video art. The exhibition showed the wide range of her work, with paintings, drawings, sculptures, video and interactive installations, in which Nan Hoover explored the themes of light, time, gestures and movement in an impressive manner.

This exhibition came about in cooperation with the Nan Hoover Foundation, Amsterdam. As a co-organiser, my role in the creation process of the exhibition allowed me to append my wide experience in art project management, as well as to act as a liaison between the Nan Hoover Foundation in Amsterdam and the Akademie-Galerie in Dusseldorf.
