In May and June 2004 the manifestation Nieuwe Domeinen took place in the Staatsliedenburt in Amsterdam. It was the first time that such an event had been organized in the field of art, urban planning and architecture in this neighbourhood.
For three weeks, outside and inside the new residential buildings, daily activities were offered such as guided tours, movies and public debates next to a temporary exhibition with installations in the public space.
The central theme of Nieuwe Domeinen was the public space versus private space and the role of art in that. In this context Holger Nickisch invited sixteen artists and experts:
Etoy, Orgacom, Marc Bijl, Edwin Zwakman, Rob Sweere, Mark Bain, Tracy Metz, Allard Jolles and Duco Stadig, among others.
